Pros
One of the benefits of being an adjunct professor at GCU is the program’s strong emphasis on scholarly outcomes, which helps guide DNP students toward academic success. Additionally, the university’s Christian foundation allows for prayer and spiritual encouragement, which can be especially meaningful for students during difficult times.
Cons
The DNP program has become increasingly micromanaged—for both students and instructors. The course content in Halo has not been updated, which adds to the challenge. Pay not worth the expectations and compensation.
While the head of the program is generally approachable, there have been moments where interactions felt somewhat passive-aggressive. I’ve also received similar feedback from several students. I can understand and relate to their concerns, as I’ve had a few experiences myself that align with their perspective.
