What is paid time off like at Guitar Center?

Pros

Good discount on merchandise, paid sick and vacation time as well as health insurance benefits.

Cons

Inflexible scheduling and inadequate pay results in general attitude of apathy among employees and a poor work environment. This ultimately results in a high employee turnover rate that means that many associates lack the experience to adequately perform job duties and also that the few that do learn soon realize that they aren't fairly compensated for their time and leave the company. Meanwhile it seems that upper management is completely out of touch with the day to day issues at the store level and thus initiatives taken to improve conditions fall far short of making any appreciable difference.

Advice to Management

Stop viewing your employees as numbers and actually invest in them; provide them with adequate training and fair compensation. This change would go a long way towards improving the customer and associate experiences alike.

Does Guitar Center offer massages?

Pros

Co-workers were amazing MY boss took time to talk to me about career development Lots of employee perks like BBQs, happy hours, free meals and more Relaxed culture They do promote internally a lot but they don't give much of a raise when they change your title

Cons

I mostly just left because it was low pay. They pretty much try to pay as little as possible and give as few raises as possible. The company is going bankrupt so massive employment cuts happen all the time. They don't have a lot of loyalty to their employees so people tend to come and go a lot

Advice to Management

Clearer communication would definitely help retain staff. The reality is the entire company needs to be restructured to transition into a more digital era or Guitar Center will go bankrupt.

Does Guitar Center offer dental insurance?

Pros

HR department is very good. Pay is competitive. Benefits are very adequate (401k, medical, time off)

Cons

The 401K match isn't the best, nor is the medical coverage the best. No bonuses unless you are one of the .1% of the company that walk on water.

Advice to Management

A profit-sharing type of bonus structure for ALL employees (not just management) would go a long way. (All companies should do this)

The 401K match isn't the best, nor is the medical coverage the best.
