What is the hiring process like at H E B?

      Pros

Not too difficult of a job. You get to work with other people and make friends. Not as much social interaction. I feel safe in my department.

      Cons

The hiring process was really difficult. I felt my first manager disliked me and when the second manager came along I felt a weight lifted off of my shoulders.

      Cons

      Very fast paced work environment.

      Pros

Great company to work for, really good benefits, a lot of forward advancing opportunities to grow within the company. They will help with tuition, and they really want to take care of you.

      Cons

Interview process is fairly challenging, maybe they just select few people and have a huge influx of applicants. There is a portion you have to record yourself.

      Pros

Always really enjoyed the events, partner engagement, community involvement and genuinely liked when I went into the office and the people I met there.

      Cons

I would stay far away from H-E-B Digital. The interview process was an unorganized mess from the get go, I was told my career path would be one thing I already had experience in and it ended up being something completely different. Team I ended up on had been working together outside of H-E-B for many years and were a very tight click with some nepotism involved with a father/son duo on the team that only had self interests. Team I ended up on would often crack, racist, sexist and homophobic jokes when in the office and management and leadership were too inept to be able to handle this in a way that didn't make the subject of the complain a target for the click. Leader had zero leadership skills, was likely only promoted because they had worked there for 30 years, Project Manager did all of the heavy lifting on the team, but nobody understood their role on the team and apparently nobody knew how to communicate either. H-E-B was very open about an open door policy in the beginning but that is not what they offer, Leadership in in lockstep the entire way up and H.R. Only serves company interests and will lie through their teeth to protect toxic employees if they deem them to be valuable.

Great Company! Loved the time I spent working at my store and gave me the opportunity to build and improve upon many of my skills.

      Cons

The transfer process is slightly difficult, but earning your position and growing within the company is always rewarding.

      Highly overworked!

      Pros

Nice work location. Discount on groceries and other good perks. 401k and stock plan. Face of the company is a good person. Mostly good team.

      Cons

Clicks! Tons of clicks. Also, near any growth. Some employees carry themselves as if they are more important than they are. Pay is lower than expected. Processes and procedures are outdated. Upper management will surely squash ideas and make it near impossible to gain traction for changes. If you are coming in from another state, you will be watched. Too many hands in the pot. Endless amount of work and never can catch up. To add a new hire is the hardest things. For a company that makes 35 Billion a year, it’s hard to pay someone under 70k a year. Will give hundred dollar bill perk but not a bonus. Too many older staff leading the departments that don’t want true changes. It’s run like it was in the 90’s. Good at showing the public they do well in community but behind all of it, it’s about dominance.
