Pros
- Wonderful people, great teams, people that really care - Empowered to take on more than your scope; learn more of the full business - Opportunities to grow your career
Cons
- Integration into Disney has been brutal; lack of transparency, painfully slow roll out with continued bad news (e.g. depreciation of long term incentive plan, more expensive health benefits) - Maternity leave has been downgraded to 12 weeks from 20, with some of that time not paid at 100%. How do they expect to recruit/retain top talent, specifically women? - Too much work, not enough people to do it - Moral across the company is at an all time low and it’s palpable

Pros
Not much micromanaging in my position. At this moment, we have a free Hulu account. That is it.
Cons
Disney’s takeover has been a nightmare. Benefits have been slashed and now Salary Employees are feeling just as unappreciated as Hourly Workers… and Hourly Workers get even less benefits. Pay has been moved to weekly, and my weekly contribution for health insurance, life insurance, dental, vision, STD, etc, next year, was over $50 a week. No more Annual bonuses for anyone. They’re not giving us clear and concise information about benefits that are up in the air. We don’t even know if we will retain our free accounts, which are required to do our jobs at times. PTO has been slashed. The only improvement I’ve seen was that they allow me to define who family is for bereavement. Employees are only staying for 2 reasons- they want the rest of their LTIP bonus that they did a delayed release on in hopes people would stick around longer… or they hope a position that they want to be in will open up since everyone is jumping ship. Stay for a year, then move on. Even for Salary employees, it looks like Hulu is on the way to becoming a revolving door company. Offering tens of thousands in fertility benefits but slashing maternity leave to 8 weeks and saying “we can use disability time to make it up to 12 weeks”. Disney will pump money into helping me create a new consumer for them but they won’t give me a break when I need to bond with it. To add insult to injury, we don’t even get an annual survey to tell the company how it’s doing anymore- “random people” are drawn and selected to participate. The IT department is also a nightmare- some issues can take weeks or months to resolve.
Advice to Management
There is nothing you can do at this point to fix anything. Maybe get a handle on our BPO customer service sites that can’t keep their information straight and consistently make mistakes or provide misinformation to customers. Provide an ANONYMOUS way for us to give feedback or bring back the annual survey for all employees. Please do something to help retain employees, new or internally promoted.

Pros
Hulu had a unique culture unlike any place I have ever worked out. Super collaborative Friendly or respectful relationship between Sales and AdOps Work/Life balance - for real, never made to feel bad that I had a family/kids whenever they needed to be tended to GREAT benefits for families, especially mothers and/or birthing parents Competent people Willingness to Learn and grow Willingness to help you grow your career within company Mangagement and higher ups
Cons
Disney. All of the pro's changed within a matter of months due to aligning with Disney's corp structure and processes. Their structures, processes, Sales team - all messy. Many of those with higher positions were not able to properly perform job. Extreme lack of respect for time. Benefits were super expensive for families and lack thereof of adequate (Removed almost all Hulu benefits dedicated to parents such as 20 week pat/mat leave down to 8 weeks - up to 12 unpaid) Lack of care for parents Lack of room for growth Overworked due to major turn over and replacement rate did not match Disorganized structure Etc...
Advice to Management
Do better. Care about your employees and their concerns. Put more effort into better benefits for the families, your target audience.

Pros
The people are deeply empathetic and caring. They do great work. They’re also leaving in droves…
Cons
- Salaries, bonuses, and long term incentives decreased across the company by between 10k-30k. - Medical plans are expensive with high deductibles and low coverage. - Parental leave is an insulting 8 weeks, and devalues women’s contributions and careers. - Cannot hire fast enough to fill positions of disgruntled employees who are leaving (several a week for the last year, it’s exhausting), causing added work and stress on those who stay. - HR has violated NLRA multiple times by telling employees who openly discuss these benefit degradations that their careers will be limited if they continue to discuss the issues. Overall, it’s bad here and it used to be amazing. It’s depressing.
Advice to Management
Offer tech compensation and benefits if you’re playing at being a tech company. However, since Disney thrives on worker abuse I do not expect this advice to be heeded.

Pros
Hulu in the beginning was an amazing company to work for. They had great events for their employees, and made us feel appreciated. There was always clear communication between the higher ups and managers.
Cons
That all came to a head with the buyout. Everything went downhill fast. We no longer get a pay increase every year. Our insurance became more expensive for less services/care. Parental leave went from 20 weeks to 8 weeks. There is 0 communication for any changes or things happening within the company. The workload has increased ten fold, and we never have enough people to handle all the chats and calls we take. There is hardly any room to move up within the company. Training now consists of 2 hours cramming before you are thrown to the wolves, and left to figure out everything. I would not recommend this call center to anyone anymore, unless they enjoyed being stressed out and yelled out by your peers and customers.
