How is management perceived at Medpace?

      Pros

Easy work, great coworkers, decent pay, benefits are okay, decent amount of free time and current manager is wonderful

      Cons

The GPA requirement is crazy and makes it hard for referrals. The company micromanages you and the constant fluctuations in coworkers is the worst I’ve ever seen. Every single day someone quits and someone new starts a position but only lasts a few weeks if that. The CEO is unflavored at best, the non-compete is insane to ask of people in a specific industry.

      Pros

Coworkers are helpful friendly and direct manager is very good.

      Cons

Supervisor is overbearing and does not seem to understand job description. During staff meetings they are dismissive of questions and does not respond well to constructive criticism in regards to changes. There have been numerous changes to job responsibilities without increased time to complete tasks. Supervisor does not seem aware of the amount of work that goes into assignments and continues to change processes without clear explanation of why changes are being made. Our department has hired multiple people the past year and the amount of work has not decreased at all but rather increased. An announcement was made from HR regarding raises and bonuses stating “the cost of living has dramatically decreased over the last year” amongst other passive aggressive statements basically as a warning that we were going to get nothing. In what world has the cost of living decreased? With every quarterly meeting with the CEO he talks about increased revenue and how well Medpace is doing. This was not reflected in any raises or bonuses in our department despite all the additional tasks we have taken on in the past year.

We are saddened by your thoughts about the organization. We have a designated team that regularly reviews our compensation and benefits to ensure we are being competitive within our industry. We do encourage all employees with workload issues or work flexibility issues to speak directly to their line manager. Any recommendations you have on improving our processes or communication can be sent to your Human Resources representative. We are always looking to address concerns and hear new ideas.

      Cons

Poor management, no respect or value for personal life of employees, not true to their word, worked way too much over time without being compensated but work was still expected to be done.

The CRA role is a challenging and demanding position, but one that also offers high personal and professional rewards. With regard to overtime, Medpace pays eligible employee overtime as required by law. With regard to workload, management, or work flexibility concerns, we encourage all employees to work directly with their line manager to discuss their concerns further.   It is apparent that Medpace was not the best fit for you, and we wish you well in your future endeavors.

      Cons

I would strongly advise against working at Medpace or engaging with them as a partner. My experience at this company was nothing short of disastrous, Leadership (mostly CEO) is incredibly out of touch with the reality of day to day operations. There's a serious lack of communication and transparency from the top down. Instead of fostering an open and collaborative culture. they cultivate a climate of fear and micromanagement. The executive team seems more concerned with their own self-interest than the well-being of employees or the company as a whole. As for the work environment, it's toxic/ The pressure to constantly perform at unrealistic levels creates an atmosphere of stress and burnout. Management doesn't seem to care about employee retention or work life balance. Instead they expect you to grind endlessly with little regard for personal well being. Medpace is a company that lacks employee respect, has poor leadership, and fosters a toxic, high pressure environment. I wouldn't trust them with any more of my career than I already have. Stay far away if you value your well being and integrity.

The training is complicated, There is no feedback from managers on how to improve your job performance but they're happy to fire you without it. Sure you can get experience but honestly the pay is below average and the work environment isn't set up for success.

      Cons

The culture at Medpace is not good at all. There is very high turnover. Upper management seems to continue to make decisions that make life more difficult for employees. They disguise layoffs with policy violations even after no warnings and approval from direct supervisors. They make you sign a non compete that no other CROs do for low level positions. There are better jobs in this industry and adjacent to this industry - do not work here.

Thank you for your feedback. With regard to our non-compete agreement, a non-compete agreement is a very common practice in competitive industries, such as ours. Medpace notifies all candidates who interview of our employment contract prior to offering a position. This allows each candidate to evaluate if the non-compete agreement is something they feel comfortable with prior to joining the organization. In terms of policy violations, Medpace is in a highly regulated industry, we hold our employees to the highest level of compliance with all Medpace policies. Failure to comply with Medpace policy, for example, the Remote Work Policy, may impact eligibility for discretionary bonus, merit, promotion, or employment. We recognize we cannot please everyone, but we do our best to provide an environment where our employees feel challenged, motivated, valued, and encouraged to advance. We are sorry Medpace was not a fit for you but wish you well in your future endeavors.

      - good first job out of college to gain experience - loved my direct coworkers - very friendly environment

      Cons

Buckle up... I worked at Medpace for almost 4 years directly out of college and all I can say is wow. This company (or the CEO I should say) doesn't care about the employees or the work that they put in. The company did a mass lay off in 2020 and hired all of the newbies and paid them bare minimum for the jobs of the people they terminated. Fast forward to 2024, they did ANOTHER mass lay off due to WFH compliance not being met. They fired LONG TIME managers and other GREAT employees strictly due to this. This would be understandable if there had been a warning rather than being completely blindsided. They fired managers for not upholding the WFH policy and then proceeded to fire those under the managers who didn't follow the policy as well. Almost a wrongful termination if you ask me. They took away merits, bonuses and then proceeded to fire some of their best employees on top of that. When asked why we were being terminated, it was simply because our butts weren't in our seats. Those who were not terminated are actively looking for new jobs because who would want to work for a company that doesn't care about their employees whatsoever? I had an insane amount of work dumped on me for the 4 years I spent there and I did everything that was asked of me and more. Never once was there a complaint about my performance and I was consistently praised by the sponsors and managers in my department for the work I was doing. This company dumps an insane amount of work on their employees for the worst pay imaginable. Other CROs pay their employees $20-40K more for the same work, yet the CEO gets on quarterly staff meetings explaining how much the revenue has gone up and how well Medpace is doing, yet none of this is reflected in the bonuses or merit increases. No matter how much extra work you take on and do, they will not reward you for it. If I were on the sponsor side, I would not work with this company simply because each employee is thrown in the fire and taking on so much work that they are unable to dedicate the appropriate amount of time for each sponsor. They fire people just to hire onboarding employees for half the salary which isn't even livable in today's economy. Absolutely zero job security at this place. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company who couldn't give a single care about those they employ.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you have enjoyed working with your manager and co-workers, but are disappointed by your thoughts of our organization. With regard to merit increases and discretionary cash bonuses, we offer the annual opportunity to earn a merit increase and discretionary cash bonus based upon minimum requirements and performance standards. This includes compliance with all Medpace organizational policies which all employees review and acknowledge on an annual basis. Failure to comply with Medpace policies, for example the Remote Work Policy, may impact eligibility for discretionary bonus and merit increases. We strive to ensure that our employees have a comfortable, collaborative work environment. We encourage any employee to escalate their concerns to their line manager or Human Resources Representative as Medpace does not promote or tolerate a culture of negativity.
