      Pros

This has probably been the best job I have ever had. I am treated with respect and trust which is extremely rare these days in the working world. I am on a great team and enjoy interacting with management. There are many great benefits, and I value the fact that my time is appreciated but also that my personal time is not interfered with.

      Cons

Onboarding was difficult and very confusing. During the entirety of the onboarding process, I was quite confused and a little lost. I received multiple emails that seemed either contradictory or poorly formatted and difficult to decipher. The required training materials seemed to be just "thrown on the floor" with no clear and definitive way to determine what was most pressing and urgently needed completion. The training as a whole on Workday just seems messy and unorganized with non-necessary steps just to get through some of the material. As whole this was a rather trivial matter to getting hired at Micron and is far outweighed by the many benefits I both have and will experience here.

Not bad for a large corp, but lots of room for improvement

      Software development engineer
      Current employee
      Boise, ID
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      ## Pros for my team * Manager that advocates for us to executives vs focusing on politics and self-promotion/ladder-climbing at our expense. * Capable, friendly coworkers and cooperative, collaborative, environment. * Manager works to accommodate what you would prefer to work on (back-end/front-end, etc.). * You're given "ownership" over the apps that you work on and have a large say in the work. * Team is open to your ideas including changes to processes, new tool adoption, etc. ## Pros for company * Pretty good benefits (health insurance offerings, employee stock purchase plan (15% price reduction), RSUs, PTO, paid paternity/maternity leave and FMLA). * More visibility/accessibility to execs than some other companies (townhalls with Q&A).

      Cons

      * Pointless rollback of long-term COVID-era WFH accommodations simply because C-suite wanted to and could despite their best profits ever. * Execs making broad decisions at too high of a level instead of allowing team leads to manage as they see fit. * Despite decent visibility/access to execs, its still the same corporate-speak bs and ultimately its all about the money and the execs will do whatever they want. * Like all major businesses now, focus is always on exponential quarterly growth with no long-term vision. * As a hardware company and not an SaaS company, their IT/Security teams do not have mature security enablement with proper exceptions that software developers typically need. This makes company laptop not very conducive to developing software. With the general approach just blocking everything and then taking requests for exceptions (which may not be granted), you're constantly fighting with your environment, changes to it, etc. which is obnoxious when you just want to focus on the actual work and sometimes results in proceeding with worse solutions because they are the only way work around. * Roller-coaster/waves of good times followed by mass layoffs. * Large effort by execs to push job positions overseas, with a massive focus and majority of resources given to the Hyderabad site.

Expect poor work-life balance and awful management

      Software engineer
      Former employee
      Boise, ID
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Great benefits as far as insurance, ESPP, and bonus programs are concerns

      Cons

Base pay is not as high as industry comparables. Work life balance is extremely bad, both during and beyond work hours. You'll be expected to serve frequent on call rotations that last 24/7 and will repeatedly be woken up in the middle of the night during those rotations. Leadership is also awful; you are nothing more than a name on a spreadsheet to them. Covid truly showed they do not care about their employees at all. Do not expect to be able to keep your remote or hybrid schedule if you're offered that benefit
