What are perks and other benefits like at Microsoft?

      Microsoft reviews

Good company but due to AI it’s becoming like any other service based company

      Sr technical support escalation engineer

      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Benefits , culture (varies from team to team), work from home benefits if you are a performer

      Cons

Pay has drastically decreased due to AI investments, there’s a dedicated site in PUNE that only hires freshers and underpayed staff One Microsoft is myth, management has their set of issues and they judge each other all the time.

      Business Outlook

      Pros

good benefits, flexible work from home policy, nice team members

      Cons

constant reorg, competition between teams, intense culture, company didn't inform me of on-call duties before I joined team, not much room for exploring other options career wise

Things are going downhill, great culture Microosft used to be known for is fast disappearing

      Pros

Most teams in EMEA can still work from home, good range of benefits.

      Cons

RTO in Seattle and Redmond with a desire to expand it internationally. The culture is changing for worse. You may have one tough year and you'll be forced out. Work - life balance is a thing of the past and the 'always on' culture is rampant and expected. We have already seen people resigning, burning out or going on LOA across the wider team. Leavers are not being replaced and the remaining teams are being forced to absorb the workload.

Good company but Basic pay can be increased

      Pros

Good benefits, work culture and good food

      Cons

Basic Pay, promotion cycle can be improved

      One of Top Tech Companies

      Principal technical program manager
      Former employee
      Redmond, WA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

WLB is fair, remote work flexibility, good benefits, pockets of interesting work, pay is good but not great compared to other tech companies, pretty good cultural values that are somewhat applied. Heavy investments in AI and "what's next."

      Cons

As you get promoted to principal/director and above, you start focusing on impression management, politics, "watermelon" metrics, .ppt slides, etc, more than data-driven decisions. It can take a really long time to accomplish large scale impact because of the approval and consensus hoops, Amy/Satya are slowly turning this company into more of an impersonal "machine" than it's been the previous 15 years, and the employees are starting to feel the effects of that. A lot of lip service from SLT about values that are no longer being lived up to.

      Nice place

      Business Outlook

      Pros

pretty good. it has great standard benefits and amazing work life balance

      Cons

you are giving up a better salary at a different big tech co. in exchange for better work life balance

      good but...

      Business Outlook

      Pros

good benefits as ms covers 100% medical insurance + there is 1500 for almost free use in other benefits like personal development or gym and such

      Cons

ms is a pretty big company and if you dont get a good manager it tends to de-humanize everything

      Love it here overall

      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Great perks, great benefits and great office space

      Cons

Corporate is exhausting, you are one small part in a big machine

If you have a good manager, it's a good environment

      Design researcher ii
      Former employee
      New York, NY
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

You can expect competitive pay, excellent benefits, smart team members and a culture of research-only team meetings that enables continuous improvement and growth. Many colleagues share their work for feedback and present on topics that interest them.

      Cons

Certain managers exhibit a tendency towards meticulous scrutiny. Failing to navigate their expectations adeptly and engage in the necessary political maneuvering may lead to a challenging work environment that inhibits creative freedom.

      Overall great company

      Senior technical program manager
      Current employee
      Redmond, WA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Work life balance, flexibility in terms of where you work, excellent benefits and you can move around fairly easily (into other groups/teams/roles). Career opportunities are endless

      Cons

Pay is less than industry standards (to my knowledge) - specifically in AI hardware space. Processes can block progress.
