Cons
Management is unhelpful, micromanaging, corporate culture is terrible
Pros
Remote work is readily available, since most Allstate offices closed, vacation time is on par with other carriers
Cons
unorganized at times, small raises since Allstate reduced all paybands, No bonuses, benefits available but expensive for a family, few to no career opportunities
Pros
Good benefits, good pay, good leadership
Cons
None to think of at this time
Pros
National General is now a part of Allstate and is financially forecasted for success. The best part of working with them is the opportunity for remote work and learning about the auto insurance industry. They provide thorough training to their employees before they begin working independently. Based on your performance metrics, you can move to a different position within the company after a year. If you obtain your property and casualty insurance licenses, you may be eligible for a raise. One of the benefits of working at National General is the diversity of cultures throughout the company. They offer resources to help improve your skill set if you have the time to pursue such opportunities. As an insurance company, they provide an excellent value proposition and instill a sense of satisfaction in knowing that you are helping people through a company that has strong moral values and practices fairness towards its customers. They have struck a balance between risk and pricing to ensure that their customers get the best policies at reasonable prices. They place great importance on work and life balance for their employees, which is a priceless asset. They have a fair PTO and attendance system for new and tenured employees and most holidays off (excluding Easter), which is a stark contrast to many other companies. National General Insurance Company has excelled in this typically gloomy area of employment.
Cons
As a dedicated employee of Allstate's sister companies, it must be pointed out that you are being paid less than those who work directly for Allstate, even though your job duties are the same or similar. Your work involves managing complex metrics and handling demanding customers who may be angry with the company. You deal with customers who are often dissatisfied and require excellent communication skills and a high level of patience. When customers demand to speak with a supervisor, you must transfer them to a question queue department of more tenured coworkers before they can connect with a supervisor. This process can be confusing and stressful for you and your colleagues. Additionally, the number of calls you transfer each month affects your performance metrics, which can negatively impact your chances of getting a raise, moving up in your current department, or transferring to another department within the company or sister companies. The lack of transparency and communication from management, supervisors, and coworkers makes it challenging to address your concerns and move up in your career. The company has implemented automation in its call centers, but unfortunately, this has resulted in more problems than solutions. The automated system and customers' account portals are causing issues with billing and policies, leading to frustrated customers. Fixing these issues without increasing call time is becoming increasingly complex and challenging. Even contacting the helpline for assistance is difficult, as customers are already irate from confusion caused by the company's poor software and guidelines. Most customers don't understand their policies, leading to frequent outbursts of anger directed towards customer service representatives. This added pressure has created a stressful and challenging work environment. Due to the alarming amount of jobs being transferred to the new Tijuana, Mexico site, you cannot rely on your paycheck as there are out-of-the-blue layoffs, and the company can replace you for a fraction of the cost that your work costs the company. This situation creates uncertainty and instability, affecting your work-life balance and overall well-being. Furthermore, the work environment lacks teamwork, friendliness, and fairness due to the uneven distribution of duties and pay across all titles and departments within your circle. The lack of essential tools and resources to accomplish your daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly goals makes it challenging to perform your job duties and requirements and achieve the required goals to move up within the company. This lack of support and resources hinders your progress and career development.
