      Pros

Hardworking team members, lots of opportunity (because everything is broken).

      Cons

No strategy, the only innovation is finding new ways to charge customers, continuous layoffs, leadership changes every other month, no common goal or direction.

“Severely toxic environment with alarming red flags – proceed at your own risk”

      Pros

There is nothing pro about this organisation

      Cons

New Relic presents itself as a modern, innovative company—but the reality behind the scenes is far more disturbing. Employees are frequently misled during hiring, brought in under completely false pretenses, and then forced to adapt to roles and expectations that have nothing to do with what was promised. There is zero job security, no transparency, and a clear culture of manipulation. The work environment is exploitative. Employees, especially those in India, are subjected to 12–14 hour workdays with relentless pressure, no boundaries, and absolutely no respect. Indian employees, in particular, are treated as inferior team members—expected to follow orders blindly, stripped of their voice, and denied the most basic professional dignity. It’s not just demoralizing; it’s dehumanizing. Worse still, sudden firings have become the norm. One day your system access is disabled, and the standard line from leadership is, “The employee has decided to move on. Today is their last day.” No explanations, no warnings, no effort to scale or support. Employees are removed without reason or recourse. There’s no accountability—just a culture of silence and fear. As many reviews have already warned, if you’re considering joining, make sure you have at least six months’ salary as backup, because you can be out of a job overnight without so much as a conversation. Mental health is hanging by a thread across the organization. The level of stress, fear, and burnout is at a crisis point. If leadership continues to ignore the warning signs, it’s not a question of if something catastrophic will happen—it’s when. The toxic culture, lack of empathy, and blind focus on deliverables over people is eerily similar to the environment that led to the tragic EY incident. And unless drastic changes are made, New Relic is dangerously on the same path. Employees are not thriving—they’re surviving. And most are only staying out of fear, financial pressure, or the hope of making it to their one-year mark. This is not a workplace. It’s a pressure cooker with no release valve. Join only if you’re willing to risk your mental health and financial stability.

Highly technical product led by non-technical people

      Software engineer
      Former employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Market rate salary - Good WLB - Individual contributors are generally excellent

      Cons

      - Product leadership clearly is out of touch with how the product is used (probably because they've never used it in any meaningful way). Most of leadership seems to come from a non-technical background and it shows in their lack of cohesive or realistic vision New Relic is a product for engineers and the product leadership clearly has no (or very stale) engineering perspective. - Engineering leadership is designing top-down without understanding how the product works at all, which is doomed to fail. The name of the game is cut costs and consolidate. Slideware is repeatedly presented that shows some magical simplified product architecture without any idea of how to get there. - ICs are being moved over seas for cheap labor but they aren't being trained up at all, leaving everyone to deal with massive confusion. - Private equity definitly played out as one might imagine. The culture has all but disappeared and everything is grinding to a halt while they lower the bottom line with layoffs and cost cutting.

Lost its direction, and frequent layoffs

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Interesting product and some great people to work with.

      Cons

      - Internal culture and personalities clash with poor personal communication - No real direction for product marketing fit and constant changes in messaging - Constant Layoffs culture, some are targeted, and no really continuation of work - Poor direction from leadership, with very poor processes adding to the issues internally. - Compensation packages and commesions have been changed frequently and aprubtly, with less than favourable terms and vague structures.

Good job but company is undergoing lots of changes

      Software engineer
      Current employee
      Seattle, WA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Work-life balance has been historically good.

      Cons

Significant organizational restructuring, including layoffs and offshoring, has impacted morale and job security over the last few years. High attrition as many roles are seemingly being replaced by offshore teams. Total compensation has become less competitive, as RSU grants were not renewed so everyone got a pay cut.

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Super competitive pay Remote work Flexible time off

      Cons

New Relic has become an absolute mess. They started a return to office about a year ago and the result is that many people are stuck in roles where they cannot move up unless they move to an office location. Leadership has no idea what they are doing. They talk about “ amazing company culture” but that culture is nowhere to be found and no one cares. It seems like the company’s only goal is to cut costs. C suite leadership has openly gone back on promises and there are annual layoffs

Good company that is working to become a great company

      Account executive

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Strong leadership at many levels - Very collaborative, smart and helpful employees - Strong technology base that continues to improve - Pay and benefits that are commensurate with competitors

      Cons

      - Still working through the growing pains of trying to become the defacto leader in Observability - Several layoffs over the past two years have impacted employee morale - Internal business processes need to be streamlined for efficiency and improved employee productivity

      Pros

My team's been great; the company adjusted well to going fully remote and staying fully remote after the pandemic. Company has a FTO policy that has been pretty awesome.

      Cons

A lot of changes and the recent buyout from a venture capital firm has resulted in a lot of layoffs. As a person in the support org I feel like we've been continuing to get more tasks added and not necessarily an increase in pay.
