What is paid time off like at Pearson?
Pros
Pearson used to be a great place to work where you felt proud to be a part of the team. In the last 4-5 years, the only decent thing about working at Pearson were the benefits, PTO, tuition reimbursement opportunities, and flexible work. There are also some great people who work there, in middle management and on teams.
Cons
Oh where to begin! Reorg every single year with layoffs of people who were actually knowledgeable about the market they served and were putting in the work. So much talent wasted! Every year the company has a different vision, changing things, laying people off, and then doing a total 180 a year later. If you hang around long enough, you'll be doing what you were doing 5 years ago. Decisions are made with no understanding of the customers' needs or market trends. Lots of backstabbing and politics. Those who get laid off are given the opportunity to apply for the "new roles," but it's a shame because most of the time, the management knows exactly who they want and who they don't want. People get laid off and told their roles are no longer needed only to see their former managers/colleagues being put in their old roles a year later. So much corrupt behavior with absolutely no accountability. People hiring friends and family members with zero experience and HR doing nothing about it. Do not work there!
Advice to Management
Really look at your talent. Most are really just waiting to get their severance package. Low morale because vision isn't clear. Very little new product and solutions, which means your competition is eating your lunch.

Does Pearson offer relocation assistance?
Pros
Great health benefits and generous time off package.
Cons
Very siloed. Departments do not work well together. Frequent department leadership changes. Frequent and confusing policy changes.
Advice to Management
Stop pretending that one process will work for all product lines. They have different customers with different needs. Try to make employees feel like a valuable asset instead of a cost that is reluctantly incurred.

Does Pearson offer massages?
Pros
Good benefits and perks such as one free non fiction book a month
Cons
Unorganized customer support structure, no updated resources. Leadership was not able to provide clear direction. Over half of my team left before busy season or took short term disability. This put a huge strain the remaining team and caused mass burnout. In the que for 8 hours a day does not allow for any follow up.
Advice to Management
Understand the “why”… unattainable metrics and lack of support materials makes it really hard to succeed in the role.
