      Pros

It was a good place to work during college. I enjoyed it, but it is corporate, so of course there are cons with that. Overall, I enjoyed my experience.

      Cons

You make commission but aren't allowed to leave until the end of your shift even if you have no appointments, so you pretty much sit and twiddle your thumbs for no pay. So pointless.

      Pros

50 percent commission, plus tips about 50k a year or 70k if you work hard, good management, benefits

      Cons

Dirty, have to bathe your own dogs, hard to get time off

      Constant changing

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Health insurance, benefits, PTO, 50% commission, lucky if you have a good team

      Cons

Can have a bad team, bad management, constant change, crazy policies always changing, management breathing down your back, hard to advocate for yourself

      Good stepping stone

      Pet stylist (dog groomer)
      Former employee
      Louisville, KY
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Good benefits and the hourly vs commission buckets mean even if it's slow you've got money to fall back on

      Cons

Training was a joke, you're being managed by store managers who know nothing about grooming, lessons are tedious and the schedule was never consistent

      Good pay good benefits

      Pet stylist
      Current employee
      Richmond, VA

      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Flexible schedule, commission, tips, you get pay even if you don’t have dogs book

      Cons

Every salon is different, a bad management can make your life harder at PetSmart.

      It’s corporate

      Pet stylist
      Current employee

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Cushion of PTO and benefits as well as decent pay with commission.

      Cons

Greedy corporation. Does not care about employees. Especially our district manager

Not worth the time committment, headaches and effort needed to fulfill the role.

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Opportunity to learn skills and teach essential skills to clients and work with animals.

      Cons

Extremely low pay for the trade ($19/HR and $5.50 per client per week commission for classes) Poor hours ("full time" being 32 hrs a week). Poor atmosphere to work in. Negative environment. Poor business model and decision making in senior management in the company for the direction of the training program.

      Business Outlook

      Pros

You get a lot of flexibility in building your own training schedule. Decent store discounts

      Cons

Your success depends a lot on how well other associates sell classes while you are training and not working. The commission is not much and there is a lot of stress on meeting numbers in sales.

      Pros

If you have good coworkers and leads it's pleasant, busy stores equal more training and more commission

      Cons

if management isnt great the work place is very toxic. no full time hours available for general employees. low pay and commission structure isn't great

      Pros

Solid if you have good management, good benefits, good pay and hours. Great place to learn how to groom and get your foot in the door.

      Cons

The restructure taking baths and walk ins down to 35% commission for groomers sucks. Management can be draining.
