Pros
Great employee discounts, offered great knowledge on animals, pretty good selection of benefits that don’t pertain to health (other brand discounts) as well as health benefits, and great inclusion and diversity
Cons
Money HUNGRY, it is a constant loop of corrective action to get phone number sign ups, get people to sign up for subscriptions, get people to sign up for credit cards, get people to buy something for $90 instead of $50, add a million things onto a small purchase, just absolutely unattainable goals with words of discouragement to follow. Management from GM (except my district manager) and up the chain are absolutely horrible. They all want to point fingers and say they know what they are talking about and have great innovative ways to make sales etc. but have NEVER had to actually assist guests on a sales floor and try to do so. In my time at Petco, we have had 2 GMs - both absolute nightmares. They hire anyone that wants to sit in the office their entire shift and divide tasks amongst those making $20 less dollars an hour than them. The job was good on paper until you realize how corrupt the company and management are. And to top it off - HORRIBLE HOURS. Higher up management gets a Monday to Friday opening shift and everyone else is expected to close Friday to Sunday.
