      Pros

Not much, to be honest, unless you're a groomer.

      Cons

Low pay, compared to competitor, and the company does all it can to make excuses for why they pay people who have worked for them for 20 years, and have a proven track record of success over $5/hr less than a new hire off the street. Relatively expensive health care for what you get. Don't work here if ypu love animals.

      Pros

We had a really great team who loved to help pets. Benefits for FT were pretty good. Performance Bonuses for all partners in the hospital which was nice.

      Cons

Upline management micro managed. Poor support from marketing for a newly opened location. Recruitment is very bad in the vet space.

      This Store Has Retention Issues

      Pros

Easy, slow location with little customers.

      Cons

The stocking manager is very nice and easy to work with but the store in general has an issue retaining employees for long term. I worked as a stocker and at time would have 1-2 people helping me but then I noticed every new hire for stocking would quite after a few weeks or sooner. I then noticed that the stock room was over stocked and consistently messed up and unorganized. I then realized why everyone would quite, There is no stopping the receiving new inventory without selling the old sock so the inventory would get organized and with no extra space to put the leftover stock away.

      Garbage company

      Pros

The discount is the only good thing.

      Cons

Extremely high expectations for management (without proper training) and other workers, they also just hired a new guy who has a bad history with women.

Clients and Coworkers Can Be Amazing, But It's Not Enough

      Department leader
      Former employee
      Avon, CT
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

-Coworkers are generally wonderful; you can find someone you get along with in any location -Clients can be amazing. I had so many make a lifelong impact on me, long after I left -You have the potential to learn and grow your change management and adaptability skills, as long as you're open to it

      Cons

-SLT very clearly does not care about their frontline employees; when I left, I had been there 10 years and was in management (not in the location listed here) I was on state assistance at that time because I could not afford the essentials due to the cost-of-living in my area. I was constantly told that pay increases are "not in the budget". I always met or exceeded expectations on annual reviews and never saw higher than a $0.30/hr pay raise -If you were the opening manager and the closing manager called out, and you could not find coverage, you were working a double. This could mean 7 AM until 10 PM with no real lunch break. One time this happened, I missed my first anniversary dinner with my husband and spent half an hour in the back room trying to compose myself to do my job -Questionable hiring and career growth practices; I was overlooked for a promotion, and instead the role went to a re-hire who had previously been fired for stealing. Both the hiring decision-maker and the rehire were later terminated for separate reasons. -Work-life balance is unmanageable; I once spent all night at an emergency veterinary appointment. It was during covid, so I could not enter the veterinarian's office. I slept in my car, and then had to return to the store the next morning to work my scheduled shift.

      Business Outlook

      Pros

-It's a steady job. If you aren't already a stylist, they can offer training. -My coworkers are nice, but this can vary location to location

      Cons

-Heavy focus on selling monthly subscription memberships -The written lists of expectations are extremely high, and there is not enough time in a day to actually achieve what they want you to achieve in terms of productivity -Breakroom is inconvenient to access, with only 1 key in store for employees to use, and you are not allowed food or drinks in the work area. -The higher management individuals have no experience in your field of work -If you are bitten by a dog, you are reprimanded and docked pay for the entirety of the service you performed -Refuses to update my managers on what their time frame expectations are for the cat grooming program, which was promised to me upon hiring that I could attend in January (Its now May with no word back). -Extremely slow during summers

      Pros

Locations all over the US Allows you to work around pets and people PCC staff is usually easy to get along with Possibility of good work life balance but you have to create it for yourself. A lot of room for growth in the PCC level.

      Cons

Clueless revolving door or upper management hired from non pet retail. A lot of not well thought out changes that end up needing changed again within a few months.
