      Pros

Working as a retail assistant at Primark offers several benefits, including flexible working hours, which suit students and part-time workers. Primark provides a fast-paced, dynamic environment, fostering teamwork and interaction with a diverse range of customers.

      Cons

It can get quite busy, especially during peak times like weekends or holiday seasons, so the work can be fast-paced and sometimes stressful. You may also find that long shifts on your feet can be tiring. Additionally, because it’s a large company, you can sometimes feel like just another employee rather than a valued team member.

Primark is a great place to work

      Former employee

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Primark offers lots of flexibility with the hours you work. Usually, you will be contracted to 4 or 8 hours that you must work but around this there is plenty of opportunity to pick up overtime which is really helpful. There is a lot of variety in the work as you will work on tills, on the shop floor, in the fitting rooms and the stock room. Also the pay was quite good at the time I worked there and managers and supervisors were always willing to support and help you in a friendly manner

      Cons

Sometimes the tasks could be a little mundane such as folding clothes for 4 hours but this is to be expected. You will encounter rude customers sometimes but this is not a slight on Primark. There was a couple of times where I felt a little pressured to take up over time. Also there is not many store benefits to working at Primark compared to other places which is a bit disappointing

      Retail

      Retail assistant
      Former employee

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Good salary and pay, especially for the work involved. Flexible and manageable working hours, often with opportunities for overtime. Friendly and supportive colleagues, which creates a good team atmosphere. Experience gained in customer service, teamwork, and multitasking. Colleagues are generally easy to get along with, creating a positive environment. Employee benefits include a 15% discount on full-price clothing.

      Cons

Long periods of standing during shifts can be physically demanding. Management quality varies, with many complaints about poor management, lack of respect, and inconsistency. Dealing with rude or difficult customers is a common challenge. The work can sometimes be boring and repetitive. Lack of air conditioning in stores leads to discomfort in extreme temperatures.
