What are perks and other benefits like at QVC?

Pros

Employee discount, work from home.

Cons

No perks besides benefits, discount, and sometimes a tray of dry cookies. Making money is more important than the employees. Very hectic and demanding, particularly at rush times. Senior management is out of touch with employees. There is no reason for worker loyalty, no benefits or rewards past 15 years of service. Vacation time has been eliminated in favor of PTO, meaning when you leave you do not get paid for unused vacation.

What is health insurance like at QVC?

Pros

-Full time employees are eligible for paid PTO, medical insurance, company discounts for all companies under QRG parent company -The company and management uphold a culture of kindness and respect among team members, this is not a toxic work environment like some fashion companies are. Most people are nice or at the least civil. Disrespect is addressed, it's not ignored or supported. -Company donates generously to outside charity and non-profit organizations -Weekly company wide meetings and regular quarterly town halls attempt to keep all employees in company informed and abreast with current business and updates -Employee engagement/wellness such as yoga, a gardening club, walking club, kickball team, choral group and other distractions from your low salary and lack of career growth. -Stable employer that's trying to innovate against stiff competition (Amazon) -Beautiful location

Cons

-Below competitive pay and low-ball offers during salary negotiation. -Minimal or non existent growth opportunities. -Understaffed teams and lack of staffing support from upper management. A common saying and practice: "upper management will let you drown before they agree to give you any support, they want you to prove that you need it" -Inefficient software systems and workflow processes. -Despite what HR will tell you the company does not attract top talent from the fashion industry (no one goes to Nowhere, PA to further their career). Plenty of people are coasting until retirement or just making the rounds within the limited Philadelphia companies. -Regular and major cost cutting measures such as eliminating entire teams and departments, scaling back benefits such as reducing vacation, retroacting rescinding benefits. -Despite vocal support of work/life balance, few practice this as it's simply impossible to keep up with workload (see previous points as to why); many people work evenings and/or weekends -Lack of diversity amongst employees -Huge company, you are literally a number -Beautiful BUT secluded location, long commute if you don't live in the area

What is the retirement plan like at QVC?

Pros

Great benefits including paid time off, medical, dental, vision, nutritional coaching, generous 401K match, employee discounts, Starbucks, employee sales, clean environment, and a bank on-site.

Cons

The warm family friendly environment along with the unique culture that QVC once embraced for all of its years drastically changed after the merger with HSN and Zulily. Three very separate cultures clashing as the managers who come from H and Zu to lead the Q are bringing with them their rigid impersonal micromanagement styles. The Q employees are being conditioned to forget about their positive, enriching, engaging, and flexible upbringing in exchange for the “be thankful you have a job” mentality. QVC at one time nurtured and embraced an environment where you never wanted to work anywhere else. It was a unique culture, one that was like no other. Taking the wind from the sails of the tenured people who have believed and supported the Q for many decades was a bad move. QVC became just a job where the QVC Values now only live in the etched tile flooring as a reminder of what once was. This is why I left the Q

Advice to Management

Regain the trust and respect of your highly engaged and dedicated team members before the ship leaves the dock on autopilot. Bring back the genuine human care and concern for team member and their families before everybody is left feeling hopeless. Team members who are unwillingly pushed into a corner will undoubtedly be forced to find a new home as I did. I miss the Q I joined many decades ago but would come back if I heard the environment has changed for the positive.
