I’m starting to question why I joined this company… I feel really sad. This is how I feel after three years here

      Pros

Culture-wise, for the first two years I really loved this company — because it inspired people, had a good culture, good people to talk to, always encouraged communication, collaboration, and personal growth. If you’re a full-time employee, the benefits are great and the pay is good. If you’re a contractor, the pay is okay but there are no other benefits

      Cons

This year I really don’t know why I’m still here. Many times, even when I talk to my manager, I might get zero response. Of course, when I talk to other people about work, same problem also. After the re-org, I slowly don’t understand what is my value in this org anymore. Even though I got very clear scope, does anyone actually care what I contribute to the company? If nobody cares, then what’s the point of my existence here? I keep needing to prove my value again and again, instead of just showing it. Honestly, if you look closely, the company is very wired. It’s more friendly towards people in AMER. But if you are outside of US, you can never really join the relevant meetings (unless you sacrifice your whole night’s sleep). And many times, you don’t even get any answer at all. I’m so sad for myself.

      Pros

Riot genuinely prioritizes living up to tie company value of being player focused. Engineers have a lot of autonomy, Great culture, most folks are very good to work with, toxicity is generally minimal.

      Cons

Less pay than FAANGs, no stock options. Company decision making was hit or miss for the last few years, the current CEO is working hard to clean that up.

      Pros

Some great people, good pay and benefits, industry leading games

      Cons

Unclear strategy, poor communication, no career progression, no corporate structure - everything is about knowing people and getting favors rather than organization and leadership support. Strategies change month to month. Leadership is extremely disconnected from the actual work needed.
