What is overtime like at Sage?

      Pros

Hardly any at all. Nice office but difficult to get to if you don't have your own transport. Even worse with rushhour traffic on way home. Only good for getting work experience in your CV and nothing else.

      Cons

Where do I even start. Work culture is toxic with managers with ridiculous expectations. There is constant chaos and no clear processes. The company has hundreds of systems and processes and has a hard time keeping everything organised. They offer little support to help improve and will always tell you you're not doing enough despite working alot of unpaid overtime. A friend of mine was put on a PIP just because the manager didn't like them and wasn't given adequate support to improve and was deliberately sabotaged by the manager. And if that wasn't hard enough, the company demands you to do what they call "Foundation days". Officially these events are not compulsory, but HR and line managers will force you to do them against your will as if their lives depend on it. They will also prevent you from receiving a salary bonus if you don't complete them or do what they see as enough. They have OKRs which are designed to set up objectives to improve your growth same as other companies, the only difference is that they are tedious and unclear at Sage and always demand unrealistic goals. The company has also cut alot of corners and made redundancies which is ridiculous as it forces the rest of the company to be given even more workloads. Instead of hiring more staff they will give you more tasks which will have you working longer hours and unpaid overtime. Even worse they will rotate tasks excessively meaning you will struggle to learn them and then forget them whilst learning new ones and so on. They try to be innovative but fail to take good care of their staff. I'm very dissapointed with this company and would not recommend anyone to work in this awful and toxic environment. I will be giving my notice soon and would advise others to do the same unless the company decides to make improvements.

      Pros

Sage is a very good company to work for. There is a big focus on the values: Trust, Human, Bold, Simplify and We do the right thing. The Sage market and product strategy is clear and drives us towards the purpose of the business. We have a dynamic Executive Leadership team who are passionate about scaling and growing the business. 1. Strong CEO who is passionate and dedicated to driving the business forward 2. Strong product portfolio catering for businesses of different sizes ranging from sole traders through to multi-billion Dollar operations 3. Market leaders in Ai and product automation powered by the Sage Network and Sage CoPilot 4. Talented product engineering organization 5. Clear product and market strategy 6. Evolving partner ecosystem transitioning to the selling new cloud propositions 7. Hybrid working with a number of offices being modernised

      Cons

Like any large company Sage has challenges. The Executive Leadership team are focusing on working on these. The most notable challenges include how we simplify our product portfolio over time and how we support our partner ecosystem as they transition to selling cloud solutions as there is a generational shift in these partners. 1. Complex product portfolio that is being simplified overtime 2. Aging partner ecosystem starting to transition to selling cloud products 3. Worklife balance can be a challenge, but this is a choice - Sage does expect that you manage your time and find the balance that works for you

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We've noted your concerns which shall be factored into our continuous improvement plans; sorry you had a disappointing experience at Sage. As part of our Simplification plan, we're revising our management structures to streamline operations and facilitate better workflow processes. This work spreads across to prioritisation of objectives which, given how rapidly the world of work and business changes, are expected to change from time to time to suit, That being said, we know there's lots of room for improvement and shall keep our eyes fixated on the ball as a result. Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback; we wish you the best in the next chapter of your career!

      Pros

      - good group benefits, ie pension, holidays etc… - message from the top promoted career growth and opportunities across the group

      Cons

      - leadership within the team lacks basic people management skills, often visibly stressed which filters to the team - expectations of overtime, particularly around quarter end / year end which often isn’t “given back” - internal promotions seem to be put off in favour of external hires

      Great culture but subpar pay

      Account executive

      Business Outlook

      Pros

I appreciate the culture at Sage—it fosters a fantastic work/life balance, and the flexibility in schedules is a significant plus. The inclusion of community service paid time off adds an extra layer of balance, making it an overall enriching experience.

      Cons

The compensation falls on the lower side of the standard pay scale for this role. Frequent budget cuts, particularly targeting the marketing budget, can impact the ability to maintain a robust pipeline. Additionally, there is a lack of well-established standard operating processes within the organization.
