What is the hiring process like at ServiceNow?

Great first year, excited for the future!

      Pros

It has been a great experience working at ServiceNow. From the hiring process, to onboarding, ramping up with fellow new hires, as well as getting the trust and support from my teammates has been nothing short of fantastic. When joining, coming from a small software company that I've been a part of for nearly 13 years, I did wonder if I was going to be 'one of many' and would get lost in such a large organization. ServiceNow has proven to me over the past year that this fear could not be further from the truth; I feel welcomed and really experienced that I directly contribute to how well ServiceNow is doing, together with my direct team and everyone!

      Cons

As ServiceNow has been growing so incredibly fast, there are some systems & processes that are only now catching up to where they need to be. ServiceNow has been transparent with me what these challenges were and they have been open to critical feedback, all with the intention of becoming better.

      Pros

Pension Health and dental insurance Nice office and good location

      Cons

The role and company culture are often presented as much more attractive during the hiring process than what the reality turns out to be. Internally, there seems to be a significant number of senior roles focused more on justifying their existence than on driving meaningful progress. There are frequent organizational changes that often feel unnecessary or poorly thought through. Teams are regularly moved between organizations, renamed, and then sometimes moved back again within a short period of time, creating confusion rather than improvement. Career growth is very slow and largely time-based rather than performance-based. The average promotion timeline is around three years regardless of how well you perform. Salaries are generally below market and increases are limited, which often leaves employees feeling undervalued despite their experience and contributions. Management and HR show limited interest in employee development or long-term career progression. In some teams there are also issues with micromanagement, which can make the work environment frustrating. The company is also relatively conservative when it comes to employee engagement or events, which contributes to a culture that can feel quite stingy compared to many other companies in the industry. Overall, unless you are comfortable staying in the same role for several years with limited growth or salary progression, this may not be the right environment.

Great interview and onboarding process so far

      Pros

      • Interview process was a great way of understanding what is demanded of the role. • Impressive seeing the company use their solution suite effectively for their own processes. • Strong emphasis on their core values with the messaging delivered in a pragmatic way. • Cool office, free food, gym access.

      Cons

      • Overall long interview processes, but it is also understandable, given the nature of solution consulting roles. • Lots of materials to absorb in the first weeks, which is also understandable given the need to ramp up and contribute as early as possible.

Mixed experiences in my first month at ServiceNow France

      Pros

Competitive Salaries: the compensation at ServiceNow is commendable and aligns well with industry standards. Product : AWESOME platform !!!!!

      Cons

Cultural disconnect: The work culture in the French office seems misaligned with the global ethos of ServiceNow. This has been a significant concern during my initial days here. Onboarding challenges: My onboarding experience was marred by delays and a lack of support. The delayed delivery of my laptop significantly hampered my ability to start effectively, and the response from my manager added to the stress rather than alleviating it. Age dynamics: The average age at the office appears to skew over 50, creating an implicit bias towards younger employees like myself. This age dynamic seems to affect perceived credibility and acceptance within the team. Work-life balance: There's an unspoken expectation to work long hours, which is not necessarily linked to productivity or efficiency. This old-school mentality clashes with the innovative image projected by ServiceNow externally. Limited diversity in Recruitment: The hiring pattern predominantly favors candidates from specific former employers (X-Oracle, X-Salesforce, X-Microsoft), which leads to a lack of diverse perspectives in the workplace.

      Pros

I'm located in Heredia, Costa Rica. The hiring process was though but worth it at all cost. They will received you with a warm welcome giving you good training and guidance to your role. The company culture is excellent and the salary is higher than the average. Free snacks, drinks and coffee all the time, they provide you with ServiceNow shares once you're permanent.

      Cons

The only possible cons is that is a new company here so there are many new managers still learning how to work, however ,for me it's still one of the best companies in Costa Rica. No micromanagement.

      Pros

Culture - Everyone seems genuinely happy with a very supportive team and office environment. Focus on the customer - Some organizations are ONLY focused on the Sale and forget about the importance of ongoing customer support and success. Experience is very valued with lots of opportunity. Work/life balance is important to the business with great PTO, wellness days and holidays. Interview process was very professional, organized and did not drag out. Decision made quickly. Recruiter great to work with. Onboarding experience very positive.

      Cons

Health benefits for a such a large company could be better. Other benefits are very good. For people who want to be fully remote, hybrid could be a con.

      Pros

Amazing culture! I must say given the size of this company, it is incredible how they still managed to maintain the culture of a start up, Of course like in any sales heavy organization you get excepts and toxic people here and there, but at ServiceNow its significantly less than in my prior employer, - People have respect for your time off an vacation, I have never had my manager reach out to me during my PTO, that was a normal every holiday case with my prior employers. I appreciate that in this company respect to let people disconnect and spend time with family after working hours exists still! - no official layoffs( fingers crossed none to come), many companies are not on their 3rd year of official layoffs, I respond how this company is handling the recession and tried to hold on their employees in the best possible ways.

      Cons

      - not the best internal systems , very slow and relies on humans to do data entry a lot. - very underqualified support from the Operational side, not sure of the hiring criteria but the department is understaffed and those workings are overstretched. - unclear path for promotion of development, but that maybe the case in most companies given the tech crisis. -diverse office, not just white make co workers, I love that they hire people from different backgrounds and languages, makes it so much easier for people to connect and relate.

      Pros

ServiceNow employs the best people, and looks after them. The product is great, and the company beats its targets literally every quarter. I've been in the industry over 25 years, and I can safely say that ServiceNow is the best employer I've ever had.

      Cons

It's a big corporation, and things can move very slowly. The hiring process itself is excruciating, but with good reason: because they need to be sure that the people they are are not just technically good, but also don't have...personality issues. It's a California-based business, and they can be infuriatingly woke, but if you just ignore the DEI racism and focus on your job, it's fundamentally a good company.

Interview process is genuine and thoroughly engaging, questions are well thought out and well designed to show case your skill set.

      Cons

Sheer amount of information can be overwhelming, BUT you are supported by the team, your manager, and the wider organization. If you want to learn you will earn.
