How are career development opportunities at Sun Life?

The culture is great, and there are lots of opportunities to grow within the company and move teams. There are many people that have worked there for decades in different areas, because it's such a large institution.

As an intern, there aren't many cons I can speak to.

Frequently dealing with unequal workload, management's lack of accountability for others, worker's lack of accountability from themselves, constant changes to roles or workspace, and little transparency about the future of the department. Feeling like your hard work and effort is being punished instead of recognized and supported can be especially demoralizing. • Strong performers get the worst workloads and workspaces • Problematic employees get left alone to avoid confrontation while others are forced to simply absorb the dysfunction • Hard workers end up training others while lacking support or the tools required • Very difficult to learn new skills to advance career as information is gatekept, while career advancement and goal setting is recommended • Reshuffling seating and roles frequently to hide uncertainty about restructuring • Less compensation than comparative roles in the industry
