What is the hiring process like at TJ Maxx?

      Pros

The hiring process was very easy. I submitted my application and within a few days I was called in for an interview. The interview was basic and quick. The work itself was fine, nothing special. I liked most of my coworkers. The managers were very understanding about scheduling, seeing that I was in high school and could only work weekends. Once I went to college, I was able to return to my position very easily and I worked at TJ MAXX over my winter and summer breaks.

      Cons

The management was not very good. One of my managers was very rude and widely disliked. Employees complained about her multiple times but it never felt like any changes were made. That being said, I'm sure that management practices vary from store to store.

      Pros

Similar to any job in retail. Friendly recruitment process. Pay starts low but improves quickly.

      Cons

Some not-so-friendly management. Helping out in the backroom can be stressful and labor-intensive.

      Pros

Good opportunity to get retail experience and customer service. Being bilingual, being able to work 10-12 hour shifts and being able to train helped me get promoted in just a month of working.

      Cons

Salaries are not consistent. The starting salary for the same exact job was $12 then for the following new employees it went up to $13. Our pay was never raised to the new minimum wage and management would brush off all concerns and complaints. Management would sometimes provide lunch to distract employees for a bit. There are employees who have worked for 3 years more than the new employees and they are still under the new minimum wage set.

      Pros

Getting hired and from the time I applied-actually starting was very quick and easy.

      Cons

There always seemed to be problems with the employees. Hiring multiple people all the time and will hire you as “seasonal” and not tell you until they’re letting you go.
