Pros
The only positive I can think to mention is that VCA does offer a competitive pay rate and benefits package.
Cons
I have never worked in such a toxic work environment as I have within this office. The staff is completely disconnected with one another and you definitely feel like it is an "every man for himself" type of environment. The veterinarians and office manager are down right abusive to employees and there is obvious shows of bullying and favoritisms throughout the office. Management is not supportive at all and doesn't even know how to do most of the jobs the employees are doing!
Got ideas? They don't want to hear them and I have never seen an office that just looks right over any strengths its employees might have. I was hoping for a job here that would help me learn and grow and all I felt was that this job held me back.
The actual work I was doing here was very intense and at times overwhelmingly busy, with no help to be had as we worked on a skeleton crew. If we had been properly staffed, I would say this was a good job to have, but with the aggressive behaviors that seemed to be accepted in this office, I could never suggest someone to work here. In my 30 years in the workforce, I have never worked in such a cold, callous environment.
Also, on another note, I worked here and got big discounts and even free services for my pets during my employment and I never once took my animals there. Why? 1.) Because I did not trust our vets with my own animals 2.) The exorbitant prices were so unreal, I could go just about anywhere in town, including the emergency vet and pay less for service.
