What is the hiring process like at Zendesk?

      Pros

I'm really enjoying my time at Zendesk! The ability to work remotely and asynchronously with my distributed teams provides a fantastic level of flexibility and work-life balance. I was particularly impressed with the onboarding process – it was well-structured, informative, and made me feel very welcome. The hiring process itself was also efficient and transparent, which built my confidence in the company's values. There's a real sense of ownership and the freedom to innovate, making a meaningful impact on the company's success. Highly recommend!

      Cons

Rapid pace of change within the SaaS industry.

      Pros

      - I genuinely love my job and what I do every day. Is it perfect, no, but it's waaay better than many of the other SaaS companies I have worked for over the years - Fantastic talent and super smart colleagues - Tools, resources and provisions for employees are very good - Employees are looked after and cared about - Brilliant customers who LOVE Zendesk and very happy to shout about it too! - Great product evolution and advancement that is delivering real value for our customers. Recent acquisitions have been very well integrated as well.

      Cons

      - moving very fast and sometimes this creates silos as people forge ahead - the odd process is over complicated but providing feedback up to management helps to remove administrative burden

      Pros

Get to work with true amazing professionals with a lot of experience that can help you grow your career. Great team managers and the people are nice to work with and collaborative. Basic PTO's allowance depends the country you're working from, Social connection budget to connect virtually Mental health wellbeing apps If there's an emergency going on in your life you can take 2 weeks paid off A lot of autonomy and great work life balance Great referral program 4 Fridays off a year once every quarter

      Cons

Ever since the company went private they cut down 90% of the perks, very competitive vibe, used to have Fridays half days for recharge and changed to 4 Fridays off a year once every quarter compensation plan keeps changing by the minute makes it hard to hit quotas and almost feels like they don't want the xdr's to his their numbers and not much support In some regions with restrictions to data. You can only grow in the line of your work from bdr to AE and then team Manager . You can't cross to product or success as I was initialy told during my hiring process

      Supportive Culture and Family-Friendly Flexibility

      Pros

Zendesk truly values company culture and hires kind, helpful people. No one has the attitude that something is above or below their pay grade and everyone is ready to help. There is a strong focus on work/life balance and supporting families. As someone with two small kids, this was a huge selling point for me. If you’re looking to start, expand, or figure out how to manage working parenthood, I highly recommend Zendesk. Also, the newly opened Austin office is gorgeous and thoughtfully designed. They have creative workspaces throughout for those who don’t want to sit at a desk all day, and the company is really trying to create a serene place to work.

      Cons

There is nothing Zendesk is doing wrong per se; however, due to the current U.S. economic climate, there are always changes and pivots. This is to be expected anywhere, and they're doing their best to accommodate and make the right decisions for the broader business. I am surprised there isn’t stronger investment in new hire training and onboarding. It’s fairly minimal and largely left up to the manager to design and implement. I believe Zendesk would benefit from broader company-wide trainings for new hires to create a better "first impression."

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Was fortunate enough to join during their golden days. There's a lot of support during pandemic and was not force to report to the office afterward. Good pay and good co-workers, NO toxic workplace environment.

      Cons

It's not the same since the acquisition, quarterly there's a re-organization and layoff. Then they are hiring new grad or in places where labor is much cheaper.

      Pros

Flexible work location, mostly nice people open to collaboration, moving to a nicer HQ, good benefits, inclusive environment

      Cons

Recent layoffs in Marketing included several surprises including someone on sabbatical, data hygiene challenges impacting decision making, PE ownership & new leadership driving many changes which could be handled better, HR processes need improvement.

      Good company, good direction

      Current employee

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Good products that have differentiation Good mid/long term direction and strategy New PE ownership (2022) has invested in and evolved company - making good acquisitions Overall pretty fair when it comes to policies & pay, competitive with SaaS industry where it counts Good people and culture, though the culture has turned a bit more corporate since acquisition

      Cons

Not perfect - there is normal job BS like any place Still haven't nailed segmentation and verticalization Expansion reliant; new business is a focus but lead generation can be hit and miss Sales pressure from top can be intense and not handled well by upper/mid management More recently, poorly conceptualised and executed focus on (the wrong) KPIs Focus on short term results can outweigh long term logic
