How is management perceived at lululemon?

      lululemon reviews

Employee experience just not what it used to be

      Retail sales associate
      Current employee
      Victor, NY
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Some of the benefits still offered are good, and for the most part the people I have worked with throughout different regions are all kind and friendly

      Cons

As the activewear market is becoming more competitive, employees and managers have all been under increased pressure while simultaneously experiencing a cut to head count and benefits, such as the employee discount. The most challenging thing for in store employees is the demand for weekend hours and the decreased headcount to be able to consistently fill those hours and allow for more vacation approval or shift swaps.

Could be better with better management

      Pros

Coworkers a cool, fitness discount for doing classes, good discount

      Cons

Overbearing and non-flexible store manager, really obnoxious availability requirements for part timers (lack of flexibility, again), and the pay is absolutely awful. They're overly sensitive and literally police all conversations... there's no freedom of speech or opinion at Lululemon.

      Pros

very very good salary, fun benefits & good incentives … products sell itself but the job requires a lot of effort with guests (to educate)

      Cons

The leaders are very harsh in the name of honesty and the culture has been formatted such that the key leads and managers are against the educators. There is often complaints written by the KL about many matters in a portfolio. It’s created a culture for the educators to need to kowtow (show deference and deep seniority respect) to the managers to have a smooth time working there. Scheduling is made very very stringent on part timers and schedules are not really respected.

Loved the Team, Lost Trust in Leadership

      Visual merchandiser team lead
      Former employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

The team was genuinely the best part of working at lululemon. Very fun, collaborative environment on the floor, and I made friends I’ll have for life. Coworkers were supportive, creative, and great to work alongside day to day. The employee discount was also a huge perk at the time, especially when sale items were still discounted at 75% (this has since been removed). The brand itself is strong and visually inspiring.

      Cons

There was a significant amount of internal politics, particularly at the management and district level. Our store manager was knowingly managing two stores at once for additional compensation while being fully aware that our location was scheduled to close. Despite this, an assistant manager was brought on with the promise of becoming a store manager, without transparency about the store’s future. This created false expectations and ultimately felt misleading and unfair to the team. The district manager appeared primarily focused on sales performance and protecting her bottom line, with little regard for employee well-being or long-term impact on the store team. Upper management overall seemed to prioritize profit and brand aesthetics over honesty, accountability, and employee investment.
