A recruiter reached out to me, asked me to apply. I had one interview over the phone that went very well and was asked to complete an assignment. After the assignment was completed, it was received positively and I was asked to come in to the office. As I was a remote candidate, I wasn't able to come in very soon and made sure they knew that it would require transporting me to their offices in order to complete the in-person interview (of which they knew from the beginning). After I reminded them of this, the next email I received was they were moving forward with another candidate. It was clearly because of my location, which makes sense — but it would have been nice to know they weren't looking to relocate someone long before I went this far in the process.
