I was contacted by a member of the corporate recruiting team -- unsolicited. What I did not know at the time was that AECOM was comprised of many acquired companies that had be permitted to operate as individual stand-alone companies. What this meant for me (I discovered several months after having joined the company) was that the recruiter (from a different office / legacy company) was not familiar with unique nuances of the AECOM group with which I was interviewing. As a result, I believe verbal agreements were made -- and treated as if no big deal / done every day -- with me during negotiations that did not pertain to my group. For the past 2 to 3 years, however, AECOM has been working diligently to standardize the operations of its acquisitions. As a result, this should not be an issue for current / future candidates.
