      Learning & Development Partner Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at ASOS (London, England) in Mar 2018

      Interview

Submitted a CV online and was contacted around 1-2 weeks later for a 10 min screening call with the Talent Acquisition Manager. It was just a couple of straightforward questions (about my experience and motivation for applying) and then I was told they would like to schedule a 1:1 with the Hiring Manager. That 1:1 took place a week or so later, was quite informal and the manager was refreshingly honest about what the role would involve, and what parts of my CV / experience fitted well and what they still had questions about. This stood out for me as a lot of interviews can be a bit too formal, and whilst this definitely had elements of formal questioning, it was also quite conversational and I felt comfortable being equally honest in response. Shortly after this interview, I was invited for a final panel interview with the Hiring Manager, her manager and the HR Business Partner (they call them People Partners) for the business area they had in mind for me. I also had to prepare a 10 minute presentation for this interview. Ididn’t get an offer in the end, but when I requested detailed feedback they provided it really quickly, which is a great sign! Overall, I felt that they were most interested in who you are as a person and how well you would ‘fit’. I’m sure that a candidate’s experience and abilities were important for them too, but I got the vibe they are protective of their culture (which makes sense given how much they’re growing, if they didn’t do that it could dilute the identity that attracts and retains good people in the first place). They do seem like a great place to work though, if I saw a job they were advertising that I thought was a good fit for a friend or colleague, I’d have no hesitation in recommending they apply. The process hasn’t put me off potentially applying for a role again at some point in the future either.
