I had a top sales rep friend on the inside, who considers me his equal in technical prowess. He has known me for years. Even when two positions opened up on a team, I ultimately was unable to land a position because I could not get past HR. They said I was more suited for retail. I think in hindsight I oversold myself and needed to proceed with more strategic humility and listening. I thank God that He still took care of my family.
