I applied online after a friend suggested I apply. A week later I had a phone interview by an internal recruiter. She seemed really nice and I felt like the phone interview went really well. We chatted for almost an hour. I got a really good impression from her. Then, I came in for an in person interview and a half day job shadow. I honestly felt like everything went really well. I got a good vibe and really liked the people working. I felt like I could fit right in! I was formally interviewed by 3 different people and I answered all the questions pretty easily. I was prepared and had thoughtful answers. I had questions prepared to ask at the end as well. During the last part of my interview one of the interviewers looked at me and said "Look, you seem really nice and you interview really well obviously you know that.. and I don't want to talk you out of this or anything but this is very competitive and numbers driven environment. It can be pretty intense at times..." It did seem like he was either talking me out of it or letting me down softly? He was nicea about it but it seemed overall pretty condescending. I gave no indication that I couldn't "handle" a competitive environment. The other interviewed chimed in and said "Well we are also hiring for the HR department which you would be fully considered for as well!" I couldn't tell what the point of all that was. I tried to assure him that was fine with me.. but maybe he didn't believe me because I got a letter in the mail the next day basically saying thanks but no thanks. I genuinely don't know what else I could have done differently. And if it were my qualifications then I felt like it was a waste of time to even interview me because those are clearly stated on my resume.
