A recruiter reached out to me initially and was very friendly and supportive, speaking positively about the company. I was actually quite impressed by Aircall at first, especially since the public reviews, including those from employees, are relatively low.
I then proceeded to an interview with the hiring manager.
If I had to summarize that interview in one word, it would be: *humiliating*.
The hiring manager presented a very different picture of the role compared to what the recruiter had described. From the moment the interview started, I already had the impression I would not progress further. The questions felt unusual and, at times, dismissive. The role was also downplayed significantly, including negative comments inside their own team.
Each time I provided a correct technical answer, the interviewer seemed visibly disengaged, which made the entire conversation uncomfortable from beginning to end.
The only communication I received was a rejection email, which was not surprising given the interviewer’s reactions. I felt quite discouraged and tried to reach out to the recruiter, but received no response.
Looking at employee reviews, I can now understand some of the concerns raised about the company culture compared to similar organizations, and this experience seems to reflect some of those patterns.
