I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at AlphaSights (New York, NY) in Dec 2014
Interview
There were a total of three rounds after the online application.
Round 1- Consisted of a video interview. It was pretty tough because you were literally speaking to a video of yourself. Questions came up on the screen and a timer counted you down. The questions were basic behavioral questions. I think the main thing they're looking for is to make sure you have interpersonal skills. Main tip is to stay calm, keep it simple and watch your time.
Round 2- Consisted of a one-on-one google hangout interview. I was interviewed by a woman called Molly. She was great, really conversational and made me feel very comfortable. Again, pretty standard questions about your career choice and experience.
Round 3- The final round consisted of 3 rounds over the space of 2 hours.
1- An interview with two analysts. Very conversational and light. They also brief you on information about their method.
2- A case study consisting of three questions of which you need to answer two. My advice would be to try and keep it simple and base your answer on what they have briefed you on. I panicked and went a round about way of answering the question only to realize afterwards that it could have been done in a much easier way.
3- This is an interview with two senior members of Alphasights. Again, they were both very nice but I definitely didn't feel as comfortable as I did in the previous interviews. This is probably down to my nerves though. The interview questions were much tougher, they kept asking negative type questions i.e " what are your main concerns for this role? what are your two no-gos for a job? what on your resume did you not enjoy doing? "
These type of questions I found extremely tough, especially in contrast to the interview I had just had which was quite positive. I found myself rushing a lot of the answers and not pausing to think. I think this might have been because the interview before this had been so conversational that there wasn't as much of a need to think through your answers so watch out for that. The guy also seemed a bit uninterested and rushed but I'm pretty sure that's just an interview tactic. I found the final interview pretty intense and draining, but again, that was probably my nerves that caused that.
One working day has passed since the interview and I'm waiting to hear back.

Question 1
what are your main concerns for this role? what are your two no-gos for a job? what on your resume did you not enjoy doing?
I went through 2 rounds of interviews before deciding myself not to move on after the second. The first one was a standard behavioral one, recorded before a screen (might've changed due to the pandemic). The second one consisted of two parts: the first a role play, where I was assigned a case and asked to look for industry experts to answer a question for a made-up client, the second a standard behavioral interview.
