      Communications Manager Interview

      Dec 12, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Seattle, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Dec 2019

      Interview

The first interview took two reminder emails to get it scheduled. My second interview was with the hiring manager. They did not show up to the call. I had to email three times to have it rescheduled. They did show up to that one. The hiring manager did not ask how I was, and went ahead with questions. I could tell they had already made up their mind. The 45 minute interview ended up by being 25 minutes even though I believe I was answering the questions effectively. The interviewer’s last work was “OK, now let’s go back to work.” The overall process was uncomfortable. Amazon is a proactive company and I expected their interview process to be smooth and professional. I was disappointed. The very next morning I’ve received an email sayin they will not move forward with my application. I was fine with their decision except that I don’t believe I was given enough chance to present my experience and skills.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon in Oct 2025

      Interview

Submitted an application online. Heard back about a week later to schedule an interview prep call with the recruiter and the screening call with the hiring manager. Overall, all recruiting touchpoints seem apathetic about applicants and that you should feel lucky they're interested in you. This is the second role I've interviewed for and it's the same level of disinterest shown in the candidate. The call with the recruiter provided no information about the role and they were unable to answer any questions about the position. All they could describe were Amazon's Leadership Principles and provide the set that the hiring manager would be focused on. The recruiter gave me inaccurate information about the scope of the role that was then corrected when I asked the hiring manager for more details. The screening call was to the point asking if I had any questions to start off with. I had to spend the first 15 minutes on questions as the recruiter was unable to provide any answers which the hiring manager seemed surprised. From there I was asked about 6 behavioral questions. The hiring manager kept referencing my resume and did not ask to hear about my experience or my interest in the company or position. Overall, it was a negative experience which mirrors the last interview I had with Amazon. I received a timely status update following the call with the hiring manager, but given the time I'd invested across the two calls, it yet again felt impersonal to receive an automatic rejection from the job portal.

      Interview

The recruiter will explain everything to you before the interview with the manager. In the real interview, you have the Pitch, overview of cv, then behavioral questions. At the end you ask questions.

      Interview
