Interview
I interned at Amazon as a Software Development Engineer Intern, and the experience exceeded my expectations in many ways. From day one, I was treated like a full-time engineer—given access to real tools, repositories, and assigned a project that directly contributed to the team’s goals.
The mentorship was excellent. My manager and mentor were approachable and always willing to guide me. Weekly check-ins helped me stay on track, and the feedback I received was constructive and actionable.
The work culture is fast-paced but supportive. Amazon’s "Leadership Principles" are not just buzzwords—they’re actually embedded into how decisions are made and how people work. It pushed me to think big and take ownership.
What stood out was the ownership I got. I wasn’t just fixing bugs—I was designing solutions, writing scalable code, and even presenting my project to senior engineers by the end.
The only downside was that onboarding took a bit longer than expected, and at times, internal documentation was a little scattered. But once I got through that, it was smooth sailing.
Overall, I’d highly recommend the Amazon internship to anyone who wants to work on meaningful projects and grow fast.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
During my Amazon internship interview, one of the most memorable questions they asked me was:
"Tell me about a time you had to make a tough decision with limited data. How did you approach it?"
They were evaluating how I make decisions under uncertainty, which ties directly into Amazon's Leadership Principle of "Are Right, A Lot" and "Bias for Action." I gave an example from a college project where we had to choose a tech stack quickly due to a tight deadline. I explained how I gathered whatever information I could in a short time, consulted peers, made a decision, and reflected on the results later.
After the online personality test (assessment), the process was rather easy consisting of one behavioral interview where the interviewer asked me questions about my experience and how I connect them to Amazons leadership principles. In the technical part, I was given a brief business case and asked to solve and present, was rather easy and time was enough. I was hired afterwards.
the first step was an OA. the second step were two online meetings including livecoding and technical questions. the questions were morr about my projects, not necessery technical questions about oop etc.

Interview
I had two interviews, both went well. Had a couple of behavioral questions and one algo problem to solve in each interview. Also in the second one a couple of questions about the usage of GenAI.
