      Application

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at American Express (Phoenix, AZ)

      Interview

I applied and a day later was asked to complete a 40-60 mins assessment. Then a couple days later was called to schedule a phone interview. Phone interview was about 40 mins long. Consisted of 3-5 STAR behavioral questions. I was asked then right after to come in for a in person interview. The in person interview was round robin style which consisted of 5 directors/supervisors and 8-10 other candidates. Walked into a room where there were two rows of chairs facing a screen and behind it were three different tables. The directors all took turns introducing themselves and then all the candidates did the same thing and were asked to explain why we want to work there. We all took turns rotating to each table to speak with a different director/supervisor where they all asked us 2-3 star questions that were about in total 4-6 mins long. Then we all took turns taking a mock call where someone called in stating their wallet was stolen and were so upset and stressed. Recruiter stated when taking the mock call it was important not to say “I’m sorry” but use empathy instead of sympathy. I was sooo nervous prior to the interview not knowing what to expect for a round robin because I hate speaking in front of a lot of people, however it was amazing. I felt so comfortable and was so happy after we were finished. Be prepared to ask them 2-3 questions about the company. I was then told we would hear something by Monday if we get it or not. I’ve never been so stressed in my life worrying if I’ll get this position or if they loved me or hated me. The benefits, pay, morals and values are amazing. I spoke with people there who have been there 15 plus years which I appreciate because you could actually make a career with this company. I finally received a call back regarding my interview only to have the recruiter inform me that they closed the position just meaning they weren’t going to hire anyone due to not enough spots to fill. I was a bit disappointed to say the least because they were hiring to fill 8 spots and a company this big overlooked not enough positions to fill? He said anyone who received an offer would have theirs rescinded. He then informed me to apply for another position. I applied for it. We’ll see how this goes but not looking too good in a candidates eyes right about now. I feel as if I wasted my time.
