      Software Engineer III Interview

      Oct 1, 2021
      Anonymous employee
      New Delhi
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at American Express (New Delhi) in Sep 2019

      Interview

Interview difficulty was decent. They asked the usual questions regarding Data Structures and Algorithms, DBMS, Networks, Programming languages, Linux. Just any other usual SDE interview. They didn't ask anything specific to ML, Probability, etc. This was followed by an HR interview.

      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at American Express in Oct 2025

      Interview

I never got a recruiter call or anything, just a questionnaire and the recruiter would delay emails for a few days at a time. I had a hiring manager interview and was told there would be two more rounds. The recruiter told me to download VSCode and Node for my first technical interview but when I joined I was just given scenarios and asked on how I would approach it. I cleared it up with my interviewer because I told them that the recruiter told me we were supposed to use VSCode and he told me that would be the next interview and then walked me through what the next one would be. The actual interview ended up being a two questions scenario and majority of the time he talked about his projects and I was just confused on what the interview process was at this point. After that interview I started preparing for the next since it seemed to have gone well but then I didn’t hear back from the recruiter for a week, I followed up two days after and nothing. Finally after a week I emailed again and told them that I’m in final stages at another company and would like to know, and then finally she emailed back saying they’re moving on with other candidates. I just think the recruiter should been better at giving information but also it just seems that they were disorganized in communications and unsure how to assess me as a candidate.
