      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at American Woodmark in Dec 2011

      Interview

The recruiter informed me on a Monday at 11:00am that someone from AWC would be calling in the next hour, however I didn't receive a call from the hiring manager until Wednsday at 9:15pm. First interview was a phone personality screen that started at 9:15pm (22:15) and lasted until 10:15pm (23:15). It was a one sided personal history questionaire full of open ended questions in order to guage your "fit" with in the organization. Post phone screen I was given an online personality exam (wonderlic) to complete. Next was a 1:1 interview which was held 2 hours away from my house and perspective work location. Hiring manager was 45 min late for the interview, but did call me to notify of his tardiness. The 1:1 interview lasted 3.5 hours in a hotel lobby, very detailed two way discussion about the company and opportunity. Immediately after the interview I was administered a timed IQ exam. After successful results of the personality and IQ tests, a second interview was scheduled with Regional and Divisional management representitives. This interview was also held at a hotel, 1.5 hours away from my home and perspective work location. It lasted 1 hour and was comprised of personal and work history questions. Several unprofessional comments were made about 2 prior applicants during the interview, which made the interviewers appear smug. Feedback was: I was not given a job offer due to "lack of experience"; I have 12 years of sales experience and my experience is clearly on my resume (if that isn't enough why waste my time interviewing me?). I was not reimbursed for my travel expenses and the experience overall was a negative and expensive waste of time.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Why didn't I see the "writing on the wall" when terminated from my last position? (poor question to ask, if I knew I was going to be terminated I would have looked for another job)
