      Senior Java Developer Interview

      Mar 10, 2015
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Montreal, QC
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at AppDirect (Montreal, QC) in Feb 2015

      Interview

First had a phone interview with a senior engineer for about half an hour where I was asked some technologies used in my previous jobs. And then I am assigned an integration project to finish in 10 days. I finished the project based on the requirements even finish some requirements for bonus points and send the source code back to them. No response from the company after 10 days then I sent an email for an update and was told they pass on my candidature. Overall it seemed like they were just following a process - they were not interested in knowing about me or testing my skills. Possibly they had already decided to hire someone else by then. It is perfectly OK if they want to go with some other candidate - but why waste somebody's time like that?

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at AppDirect in Mar 2015

      Interview

After the first call with recruiter, there was a phone interview with their senior software engineer. During the call, the past experience and some technical question regarding web application, spring were asked. Then, a integration challenge was sent to be completed within 10 days. Then it comes with a on-site interview with 3 engineers. 2 technical and 1 behavior interview. After that I was set up a call with the VP engineer to discuss about the my past challenge and experience 2 days after the on-site. The Monday after the call with VP, I was told that my candidature has been passed on. Sad end but it was an interesting experience.
