I applied online and scheduled a phone call from apple HR, asking about general background. Then, I had technical interview with hiring manager. still waiting for feedback about next steps.

Question 1
1. Cantilever beam questions, how to improve stiffness of cantilever beam that holds apple logo in free end? name as many ways as you can.
2. Where the max deflection will happen? where point the stress is largest?
3. If you add extra stiffener, will you add it on top surface of the beam or bottom?
4. Which common injection molding defects you faced before? how you fix them?
5. four parts need to be made out from mold, where are the ideal positions for sprue, runner and gate?
6. which side should plastic inject from? core or cavity?
7. what's the difference between Cp and Cpk, which value indicates good tolerance control?
8. Name heat transfer modes.
9. Heat conduction question, know temperature, size, thermal conductivity of the heat source and thermal compound, calculate temperature on the other side.
10. Explain the definition of stress and strain?
i had my interview today and was asked the same question. also similarly, the interviewer had no sense of humor. it was not a enjoyable experience because i think i gave like 3-4 different ways of making a cantilever, but i was asked "what else?" like 10 times for the cantilever problem alone. i also have 7 years of work experience, but there was 0 question asked about it.

What causes corrosion, and how do you design to mitigate it?
The interview went well overall. The interviewer opened with a discussion about a project I'm proud of, then a beam scenario question that covered structural and load analysis, stress and deflection, and material selection — testing my ability to connect first-principles thinking across the full problem space.

Interview
Interview with hiring manager then virtual onsite. They ask you general mechanical engineering questions as well as questions dependent on type of team and skills they are looking for. Not bad overall just brush up on basic beam deflection, GD&T, Design analysis etc.
