      Chemist Interview

      Jul 7, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Southfield, MI
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I interviewed at BASF (Southfield, MI)

      Interview

Interviewed with a panel of people in a conference room. Personal and technical questions but overall pretty laid back considering you are sitting across from three interviewers at once. It was enjoyable to do a tour of the labs and building afterwards

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Walk through employment history and explain why you left your most recent job

      Chemist I Interview

      May 7, 2024
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at BASF in Nov 2023

      Interview

I have never seen a company move so slow, it took 3 months from application until interview. Was asked to prepare information to present. Interview was very aggressive with many questions about a spectrum of behavioral, chemical, and others for almost an hour. Received no follow up which is as discourteous as can be after asking for all the work and waiting. It certainly makes one think twice about the company in general.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Explain a time where an issue came up with a product and how was this addressed scientifically and with a representative from that company

n what ways do you strive to cultivate a sense of intellectual curiosity and critical thinking among your students? Can you share an example of a thought-provoking discussion or activity you've facilitated in one of your classes? How do you encourage your students to challenge conventional wisdom and think outside the box? Have you noticed any shifts or changes in the way students approach learning and academia in recent years? If so, what implications do you think this has for education? As a college instructor, how do you navigate the balance between providing structure and fostering independent thinking among your students?
