Very unprofessional. Have interviewed with them twice, only to be completely ghosted after being brought in for a long panel interview both times. Interview was first with a team of junior staff, then a team of senior staff, then the department director, and then the HR person, followed by a facility tour. Staff seemed nice. Multiple red flags were raised during my questions to the junior staff. The company seems to pay lower than industry average in terms of wages, and makes up the rest through quarterly bonuses. However, They can lower/withhold bonuses completely to maintain their margins during quarters of poor performance. Benefits are pretty minimal with the standard dental/vision/health with a lower 401k match of 4%. Amount of Holidays are nothing special if not low. Company seems to be very hierarchal, with junior employees seemingly only there for the manual labor. Promotions seem rare and not merit based, but seemingly on maintaining companies internal pyramid structure and finances. Based on my questioning, it seems that even If you have been an RA1 for two years, you will have no chance at being promoted to RA2 if there are one too many RA2s on staff, or the company doesn't want to give you the raise that will come with a promotion. The career progression at this company looks quite minimal. Additionally, The company is a CRO, meaning their performance is entirely dependent on the state of the market. They do not seem to specialize in any one area of biologics, opting to instead to try to keep up with emerging research trends, hopping around from one area of research to the next (I.E. STEM cells one year, therapeutic antibodies the next, siRNA the next, etc.).
---Key Takeaways---
- The company underpays
- The Company Seems to take advantage of junior staff with the promise of bonuses that may never be given and growth opportunities that may never come.
- Overall very unprofessional interview process, taking up hours of my day with long back-to-back interviews only to disappear afterword with zero communication, not even an automated rejection.
- Disorganized
- No clear goal
- Benefits are nothing special
