I applied online. I interviewed at Belk in Jul 2012
Interview
I applied online, the application was simple and I had to fill out a lengthly questionnaire which took 20 minutes. I received a phone call from HR the same day and went in for an interview the following day. I interviewed with the HR manager first, and then the actual store manager second. The interview process was standard for a retail job. I was asked why I wanted to work at Belk, my past retail experience, my strengths and weaknesses, my plans for the future, etc. The interview went well and I was told I would hear back in a week after the background check was complete. I did hear back in a week or so and was offered a part time sales position.
I was a referral and had a brief discussion with the manager and got the job relatively easily. I think getting this job was one of the easier jobs I was able to obtain. However, this was back in 2010.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked me what my availability would be since it was around the holiday season.
One Interview with the department manager for a sales position. Super short, simple, and to the point.
I received the offer same down and then had to schedule onboarding with Human Resources.
It was your basic questions. Went fine. Nothing too detailed but it was for a base position at the holidays. They were looking for anyone dependable with a car basically.
