I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Bending Spoons (Milan) in Mar 2021
Interview
Super long test assignment (10 hrs or so). The tasks were fun to solve, but you don't get to see the results, only the final response from the company. It would be nice to have a chance to see where your weak points are, after investing 10 hrs of your time.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
various type of tasks (math, analytics, logic etc)
The interview process is extremely time consuming and works against the candidate. The job description is extremely vague and does not allow you to understand what the job is actually about until the very last stage, which contrary to what the company states to believe in, actually puts significant power imbalance between the candidate and the company. It took me overall 4 months and I completed the whole process except the last interview. It consisted of:
1) CV and Cover Letter
2) 3 rounds of tasks; each round with 3-5 tasks
3) 3 interviews, from which I completed 2
I dedicated almost full-time prep for this and when I sent email about the clarifications about the role after the 2nd interview, there was no response. The 2nd HR Manager could not answer my general questions about the role either during the interview.
The feedback that I got was that my responses were less correct and less structured than other candidates. Ultimately, I am disappointed with the lack of proper feedback as this feels like excuses. This may work the best for their company, but ultimately competing negotiators against statistics tasks does not speak about their ability to perform at the job.
My advice to all future candidates, before you sell to yourselves why you should invest so much time in the recruitment process, try to understand what you are actually going to do, so you don't feel scammed at the end.
