I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Block in Aug 2015
Interview
Contacted by a recruiter after an employee referral. She sent me the link to interview for a Sales Development position which is not what I initially expressed interest for...
First step: online video submission. Three questions: Why Sales? Why Square? Why do you want to be a Square Sales Development Representative? 1 minute & 30 seconds each
Second: The recruiter directed me to speak with her assistant, to then set me up with an interview to speak with an Account Executive (plenty of evident hierarchy here, straying away from the flat structure of a start-up). The interviewer was late to call and was rather uninterested in the conversation. She was reading a script off her computer and typing my answers as I was speaking.
My questions for her at the end were geared towards better understanding the career development for the role, company culture, and the direction of growth and customer segments they're looking to target/sustain. She did not answer the question about career development, but rather explained how 'fun' the sales team is. Her comment for company culture: love the people (typical). And the last was promising to say the least. As an SDR you're able to pursue a target vertical and work with a business unit that specifically interests you.

Interview
I interviewed for the entry level position. Typical sales interview, met with recruiter and then 3 mangers after that. They asked questions off a list, it didn't feel like a conversation at all. It seemed a little bit unprofessional interviewing.

Question 1
Typical interview questions. They literally asked questions off of a list.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Block (Toronto, ON) in Dec 2020
Interview
I applied through the employee referral program. I was first reached out to by Tommy from Square Toronto for the intial screening process. Followed by a one on one interview with the hiring manager. The final step, I had a panel interview with several members of the sales team. This interview process was by far the most unique and comprehensive interview I have been in. Tommy was my recruiter and he was my first point of contact throughout the interview process. He answered my questions in an extremely timely manner and along with Morgan made the interview extremely seamless and stress free. With Covid in mind, the interview felt very personal and genuine even conducted virtually. I cannot imagine how much more effective it would be if I had a chance to interview in person. Overall an excellent and extremely positive experience.

Interview
The recruiters did an amazing job of thoroughly explaining the hiring process to the candidate. They are in the candidate's corner the entire time, and really provide a sense of comfort and confidence throughout the entire process.
