I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Booking.com (Amsterdam) in Aug 2017
Interview
Pretty straight forward. Applied, a week later, I got an email to solve few Hackerrank questions. Solved them a week later, got a response the next day that they wouldn't be going forward with me.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Booking.com (Manchester, England) in Apr 2023
Interview
Screening plus 2 stages. The recruiter emphasised a quick interview process. The first stage was live peer coding; The second stage was competencies. The job description for the role was not even ready when the recruiter approached for the screening chat. Little detail was told when asked, which for what was told, it did not reflect what was needed for the first stage. The recruiter verbally told me the first stage was peer coding, but the confirmation email said something different, which confused me. Before being able to know what exactly the role was about and expect, a clueless first-stage peer coding made me question what Booking.com wanted to do - are they doing meaningful recruitment at all? The same evening after the interview, someone else from Booking.com sent me an invitation to their social event. It was sent to a different email address, so I asked where they got my contacts and if that was related to my application - their staff refused to disclose and just said they got my details from "an app". Received an automated email notifying me that I failed the interview. It was the Booking.com recruiter who approached me to apply for the role, and I was still unsure what they were looking for when I posted this.
