I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Brookbanks (Birmingham, England) in Mar 2026
Interview
Really nice environment, both interviews felt more like a discussion with colleagues. It felt like they were genuinely interested in learning about things I have worked on. The initial interview was mainly about seeing if I’d be a fit and I talked about my current role who I am and what I have done. Then the second interview was the technical interview, I brought in my portfolio and walked through some schemes I have worked on. They showed me around the office and told me a lot more about the company benefits and seemed genuinely passionate about the company. I received a call to tell me I had got the job within 2 hours of leaving the office. The head of talent is amazing, she did the initial phone call and although I assume she handles the hiring for all sectors she was very knowledgeable in what they do in the civil engineering department so not just a detached HR person like you normally find.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Brookbanks (Birmingham, England) in Jun 2025
Interview
I had a very positive interview experience with Brookbanks. From the outset, the process was well-structured and clearly communicated, with timelines and next steps set out in advance.
The interviewers were friendly, professional, and genuinely interested in both my experience and how I approach problem-solving. The questions were thoughtful and relevant to the role, focusing on real-world scenarios rather than trick questions. It felt much more like a two-way conversation than an interrogation.
What stood out most was the culture — everyone I spoke to was open, engaged, and clearly passionate about the work Brookbanks does. There was also plenty of opportunity to ask questions, and the answers were honest and detailed, which I really appreciated.
Overall, the process felt fair, respectful, and efficient. Even if you’re nervous going in, the interview environment puts you at ease. I’d highly recommend Brookbanks as a company that takes care over how it recruits and treats candidates.
