      Pharmacy Technician Trainee Interview

      Apr 27, 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at CVS Health

      Interview

I had my interview with one of the two pharmacists of the CVS. At first it was so of awkward, she didn't seem to know what she wanted to even ask me so she told me to tell me about myself. She then proceeded to tell me about the company and asked about my previous work experience I put on my resume as well as what I wanted to go to school for. I am pre-med, but I said I was on the fence pre-pharm. She seemed to really like this about me and talked about how it will be great experience as a doctor or whatever I wanted to be (learning codes, medications, dealing with the other side of patients and learning how doctors write prescriptions etc) After about 10 minutes she left to go back to the pharmacy (it was the busy hours) and the lead pharmacy tech introduced herself to me and asked about my education and career goals, and then said the same things the pharmacist did in regards to pharmacy operations and how licensure worked in IL. Both were very pleasant and I felt very comfortable talking to both of them, they were easy to warm up to as well. The Lead then left, and the pharmacist came back to talk about hours and pay and such. The working conditions for men require a collard shirt and tie, and thankfully I had come dressed for the job during the interview as i was told "you definitely look the part!". The pharmacist said she had 4 other interviews and would call my at the end of the week and two days later I got a call saying I got the job. It obviously depends upon the CVS and the interviewer, but the process was very easy and straight-forward. I was told that when I'm not getting the typical 30ish hours a week, I can drive to the other nearby CVS and work for them, as they are always busy and in need of hours. I was told that I could easily get 40-50 if I wanted. The schedule goes out for 3 weeks in advance too, which was great coming from a warehouse where I only had a one day advance notice. I have read online that everyone hates working for CVS as a tech specifically, but I was prepared to ask questions about working conditions and pay/raises, and specific duties and my CVS seems to be a good match for me at least. My starting pay is $9.65 for the first 60 days and then goes to $10.81. After 6 months CVS will pay for my certification exam and I should get a raise. Also, there is another test I can't take to "prove my credibility" and then get a raise as well.
