Applied online, received first email contact with recruiter just over 30 days later. Had three phone interviews with different senior members of the team over the following two months or so. The discussions were quite straightforward and constructive but the steps following made the experience unpleasant.
After the final phone interview it appears as if those in charge of making the hiring decision could not decide whether to go forward with my application. After following up with my recruiter weeks later, I was informed that there has been no updates. At some point about a month later I gave Cadence notice that I need to respond to another offer in a few weeks. Recruiter replied with no material updates. After the deadline just when I thought things would settle, the recruiter sent an email out of the blue and "followed up" on me without any actionable items. I mentioned that my offer from the other place is quite flexible and if they can make a timely decision I can accommodate, since Cadence was my first choice. I was then told that they originally went ahead with another applicant but it didn't work out, but still no concrete answers to press this forward.
Following that the official status of my application has been pending for more than half a year. To date I still have not received a notice that I was not selected. These hiring procedures should be very routine for a company this size. I would have expected more from a multi-billion dollar company that boasts itself in HR competitiveness. I understand that the company may have plenty of applicants, but especially for a candidate that has already been engaged so far in the interview process, a simple "no thanks" from the company would have done wonders.
