I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (Richmond, VA) in Nov 2011
Interview
Spoke with a recruiter. Dropped a resume. They got in touch with me and said I would have to take an online test that all Capital One employees must take. There are practices online on their website. This test was unsettling, but despite the fact I thought I did poorly, I passed. Then you schedule a phone interview. It was quick and behavioral. Then an in person set of interviews. Cases and fit. Not terribly difficult. Then once they gave me an offer, they match you to a manager, and you come in and speak with them. If the fit is good, there you go, otherwise move to a different manager and try that. You don't apply into a specific group initially.

Multi-part interview. Big parts are two case interviews, a job fit interview, and a behavioral interview. There is also an initial screening with the recruiter and hiring manager. The case interviews are pass/fail so study for those.
