      Interview

I was screened by a member of human ressources who then set up an interview with the hiring manager. He seemed very interested and scheduled me for an in person interview but after telling me about the position I felt the commpensation and job were not what I was looking for so I declined to come in for a third interview.

      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Cardinal Health (Livonia, MI) in Dec 2015

      Interview

Was first contacted by an HR Manager at their HQ in Ohio who told me "your resume/experience makes you look like a perfect fit"; she arranged for me to meet with hiring managers at the Livonia, MI location - formerly a 'Harvard Drugs' facility. I noticed most of the sales people were young women; a lot of pretty attractive ones in their early 20's. Was interviewed by the two, male managers, both in their 30's or so. Talked with one, who had me sit with a guy who told me "I've been here longer than most of the others; more than two years now." (-The manager who sat me with him to listen to him on the phone had been there since it was 'Harvard Drugs'; said "yeah, this guys been here for 5 years or more"). Later met with the second manager together with the first; they seemed to agree that with 6 or 7 years of previous phone sales experience - I should be able to learn to sell their veterinarian drug line easily enough. I noticed they were sketchy in describing terms of their employee health coverage, and initially seemed reluctant to be specific about pay. I was there for at least an hour; maybe a bit longer. After having read bad reviews about working at 'Harvard Drug Group'; I asked one of them, "Would you say things have changed much here since 'Cardinal Health' took over 6 months ago?" - He answered "No, things are much the same as they were before". - Not good. The guy who's calls I listened to for a while said, "they did change some things about the various metrics our commissions are based on - we seem to be getting a bit more than before." They also had the absolute smallest cubicles to work in I'd ever seen.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They finally told me the "starting base pay would be from $12 to $14 per hour". I asked them how one would start off at the $14/hr rate - "That depends on your experience", one of them said. I told them that with having several years of phone sales experience already (-most of the young girls around the place weren't even out of high school long enough to possibly have 'several years' of ANY full time work experience.) - They didn't seem to like my idea. At one point, (after having listened to the one guy's conversations with some vet clinic staff), I said "I think I can do this", etc. "Think you can do WHAT", one of them replied, "What is that you think you can do here?" - Seemed kind of jerk-like; kind of smart alecky.
