This was one of the most drawn out and unprofessional interview processes I've ever gone through. It took well over a month to get through 3 screening phone calls. In between steps, I wouldn't hear back for weeks at a time, and then the recruiter would get back to me to schedule a call on the same day or within a few days. I would accept these crazy scheduling requests because I was nervous that if I made a counter-suggestion that I wouldn't hear back for weeks again.
Eventually, I was told multiple times that the hiring team would like to have me on-site for an interview, but they starting negotiated salary with me before I even stepped a foot in the door. Once I expressed concern over salary (concern, and by no means flat-out rejection of an offer), I never heard back from the recruiter or the interview team again. I only found out I was no longer being considered for the position when I got a survey email about the recruiting process from Cengage (the irony!).
The hiring managers were extremely nice and informative in our conversations, but the handling of the process overall was terrible. I've never felt like my time and energy had been so thoroughly wasted as it was in this process, and feel like it can't be a good sign about how the company is run.
