      Business Analyst Consultant Interview

      Nov 11, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Columbus, OH
      Accepted offer
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Centric Consulting (Cincinnati, OH)

      Interview

I was selected to do a phone interview. They called me a few minutes late for the interview, which is not a HUGE deal, but c'mon... be on time for the interview. The interview was meh. Before she asked me any questions she told me that Centric does not generally hire new grads for these positions, and I applied for the "Business Analyst Consultant - Dec 16 & May 17 Grads". I generally do very well in interviews, and this one seemed very forced. She asked a lot about my "internships", but I did not have any listed on my resume. I have much more relevant work experience on my resume, but she did not seem too interested in asking me about it. I received a generic rejection email 2 weeks after the phone interview.

One of the toughest parts about campus recruiting is that we always have way more qualified applicants than open roles. Compounding that is that we are typically looking for very specific experience and skills (to complement our existing workforce). For instance, this year we were looking for more developers (and BAs open to being developers) than true business analysts. So the net is that we have to reject some really great candidates which is always hard. Point taken on the interview format. We do try to have consistency for our screening interviews so that we are judging all candidates through the same lenses. But I can certainly see how that can come across as impersonal. We’ll take a look at this process for next campus recruiting season. Thanks for the honest feedback – it helps us get better. Best wishes to you and thanks again for considering Centric. - Carmen Fontana

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Centric Consulting (Columbus, OH) in Mar 2016

      Interview

Pretty generic questions... Why consulting? Why did you choose Info Systems as your major? Seemed more personal than some of my phone interviews with other companies where the interviewer was just firing off questions and wasn't really interested in my answers. Talked to one recruiter and two partners (three separate interviews) and felt that they were all easy to talk to/relate to and were all very transparent about how they saw me fitting into their business unit. Felt like three interviews was too many at first, but Centric is very passionate about its culture and likes to hire people with 100% certainty that they will be a cultural fit. There was less than a week of time between my last interview and receiving an offer which seemed pretty short compared to my offers from other companies.

      Business Analyst Consultant Interview

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Centric Consulting (Columbus, OH) in Oct 2015

      Interview

The interviewing and hiring process was very pleasant, with the most liberating part being them looking if I fit the culture before if my skill set fit. It started with an interview at my college with an Alumni, which was a nice first touch point. Then I went to a happy hour session for multiple people in the company to learn more about me to see if they thought I fit the company. This was much different than any other interviewing process I had gone through. After missing out on meeting one of the most important people I was supposed to meet at the happy hour session, she took the time to come meet me at school. It was a very heart warming process to see how much they care about who you are as a person.
